ICT
At Kilmoyle Primary School UICT is a key part of learning within the school. Not only do we learn important key ICT skills through ICT specific lesson, we encourage and provide opportunities for children to use these skills across the curriculum.
The school has been developing areas of ICT to reflect the ever-changing developments in technology and the need to up-skill children to be well equipped for the world they will meet after school.
All children enjoy a wide range of ICT experiences including the use of programmable devices, communication tools, databases, spreadsheets, Scratch and coding technologies. Each classroom is equipped with an interactive whiteboard, which is used across the curriculum to enhance teaching and learning. In addition, all pupils have access to the laptop or desktop computers for use in class.
As we seek to prepare the children for careers in the 21st century, ICT is a core component of learning across the curriculum. Children regularly use the internet for research, animations and code a range of devices developing problem solving skills and promoting innovation and collaboration.
Each year we are delighted to have a team of Primary 6 and 7 pupils who apply to be Digital Leaders.
Once elected these children play an important part in supporting their peers by sharing their wonderful ICT skills. The digital leaders especially enjoy visiting the younger classes to help them complete ICT tasks.
