Accelerated Reader
Accelerated Reader
In Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2 we use the Accelerated Reader Programme. Accelerated Reader is a computer based programme used to monitor children’s reading attainment and encourage them to make progress in their reading. The programme helps to identify individual reading levels and guides children to a range of books suitable for their ability. After reading a book from our Accelerated Reader library, children take a quiz to check their understanding and gain points. The better their understanding, the more points they achieve.
Children can also access their account from home.
Each month a child from each class is selected as Reader of the month, someone who has been trying hard with their reading, completing AR quizzes and showing a positive attitude to their reading!
Our librarians play an important role in our AR scheme.
These Primary 7 children willing give up their own free time to manage our busy library! They collect books that other children are finished with and ensure all of the books are filed in the correct location.
